Antonio Pilat, a laborer and shoemaker, son of Luigi and Anna Bresin, was married to Isolina Sartor and had five children, among them Romeo Pilat, who would share his father’s tragic fate.
A veteran of the Great War with the Bersaglieri, he was also called up again during the Second World War. Arrested in 1944, he was detained in Udine before being deported to the Reich, where he was interned and forced to work at Kaufering. He died there on 20 March 1945.
