Salvatore Cossu was born in
Silanus (Nuoro) on
26 February 1902 and lived in Ronchi dei Legionari at Via Redipuglia 53.
He was arrested following a denunciation during the roundup of 24 May 1944 and taken to the Coroneo prison in Trieste. After interrogation, he was put on transport no. 48, which departed on 31 May 1944 and arrived in
Dachau on 2 June 1944, where he was registered under prisoner number 69614. On 22 July 1944 he was transferred to
Flossenbürg, registered under number 13083, and later to
Hersbruck (a subcamp of
Flossenbürg). On 10 November 1944 he was transferred back to
Flossenbürg, where he died on 20 November 1944.
He was arrested because the authorities were searching for his
son Silvano (“Tritolo”), a partisan of the Garibaldi Natisone Division, Garibaldi Trieste Battalion.
