Renato Zanolla was born in Ronchi dei Legionari on 26 June 1921, son of Ferdinando Zanolla and Anna Ceschia, and lived at Via Berini 13.
A mechanic, he took part in the formation of the Proletarian Brigade and in the Battle of Gorizia; after escaping encirclement, he reached the Karst and the Triestine Battalion, later joining the Garibaldi Trieste Brigade. Captured in combat, he was deported to Germany on transport no. 60 and arrived in Buchenwald on 1 July 1944, where he was registered under prisoner number 44863. He was later transferred to Dora, where he died on 14 April 1945.
Renato was a partisan member of the Garibaldi Natisone Division, Garibaldi Trieste Battalion.
