Annibale Toffolo, son of Sante and Antonia Pitton, one of nine siblings. At the age of thirty, in 1942, he emigrated to Germany with his brother to escape poverty and found work as a laborer. After the armistice of 8 September 1943, conditions changed and he was interned as a forced laborer in the Troisdorf camp.
He was executed by firing squad on 22 April 1945. He is buried in the Italian military cemetery in Hamburg.
